Glanmire Childcare engages in a play based and child-led curriculum. We believe that each child has a right to play. Play enhances children’s physical, social/emotional, and creative growth and development. It is the foundation of learning and the way in which the children make sense of the world around them.
Play provides an array of learning experiences which are carried out through a variety of activities.
Through these various types of play the educator can gather information about the child – their interests, likes and dislikes. It encourages communication and language, literacy and numeracy as well as the development of real life skills and exploring & thinking. Play can help to build respectful relationships with others.
There are three Government funded childcare support schemes in operation.
Childcare services enter into a contract with the Department of Children and Youth Affairs to receive funding to deliver childcare through the support schemes.
Parents apply through the Childcare service of their choice to access one of the support schemes.
