Our Curriculum

Glanmire Childcare engages in a play based and child-led curriculum. We believe that each child has a right to play. Play enhances children’s physical, social/emotional, and creative growth and development. It is the foundation of learning and the way in which the children make sense of the world around them.

Glanmire Our Curriculum

Play provides an array of learning experiences which are carried out through a variety of activities.
Through these various types of play the educator can gather information about the child – their interests, likes and dislikes. It encourages communication and language, literacy and numeracy as well as the development of real life skills and exploring & thinking. Play can help to build respectful relationships with others.

Glanmire Childcare provides a creative and fun environment in which your child will grow in confidence. Physical activities in the playground, art, reading and music are just some examples.

Our curriculum is structured so that there is time for the children to free play both inside and outdoors. This encourages the child to explore various toys and objects on their own or with their classmates.

"Play is the work of childhood." - Jean Piaget

During free play, activities are often set up for the children to choose from. These activities can be large or small groups depending on the interests of the children. It is the educators role to observe the children’s interest and plan activities accordingly.
